Job summary

Larimer County Community Development is seeking a Code Compliance Inspector to investigate property and building violations across unincorporated areas, safeguarding public health and safety. The role collaborates with planning, health, and legal teams to guide property owners toward voluntary compliance in a structured, service-oriented environment.

The position typically runs Monday–Friday, 8-hour days between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening meetings or hearings as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Three years of experience in zoning/planning/building standards or journey-level trades.
• ICC Building Inspection certification within one year of hire.
• CACEO basic certification within two years of hire.
• Valid Driver's License by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review and respond to concerns and complaints about potential code violations.
• Investigate life safety, unpermitted construction, land use, and building code violations.
• Conduct on-site inspections and special investigations to assess compliance.
• Manage cases, document work, and track compliance activities.
• Prepare Notices of Violation and deadlines for compliance.
• Enforce land use and building code regulations.
• Educate residents and property owners about code requirements and life-safety.
• Coordinate recording of documents with the Clerk & Recorder.
