Job summary

City of Cortez, Colorado is hiring a Code Compliance Inspector to enforce Property Maintenance, Municipal, and Land Use codes in Cortez. This full-time, onsite role collaborates with the Police Department and community members and works Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.

The role requires a high school diploma, a Colorado driver's license, and the ability to travel for training. Candidates must be able to obtain ICC PM & Housing Inspector Certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related compliance or law enforcement experience.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to travel for mandatory training.
• Ability to obtain ICC Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector Certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints and document findings and case activity.
• Issue notices, coordinate voluntary compliance, and support enforcement actions.
• Communicate with residents, merchants, and contractors; prepare reports.
• Use database systems, GIS, and field technology to track cases.
