Job summary

Santa Fe County is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to identify and address code violations, maintaining community standards under the Sustainable Land Development Code.

Responsibilities include data collection, court representation, public outreach, site inspections, and processing permit reviews for zoning compliance. Must have a high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of related experience; NM Driver’s License required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Three (3) years of experience related to code enforcement, such as construction, property inspection, public safety, criminal justice, land use, or environmental health.
• Must obtain and maintain all certifications required and have valid NM Class D Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Acts as an enforcement officer of the Santa Fe County Sustainable Land Development Code and cites code violations.
• Collects data and prepares reports and presentations via court process; represents the County in court hearings.
• Contacts the public concerning code and zoning regulations; conducts site inspections; assists with special projects; and performs data entry of citizen requests daily.
• Reviews permit applications for compliance; conducts site and property investigations for zoning compliance; inspects new development sites for code compliance.
• Issues notices of violations; issues citations; verifies third party complaints; reviews maps, plats, and blueprints for code compliance; maintains case files and daily activity log.
