Job summary

City of Farmington, NM, is seeking a Code Compliance Officer within Police Operations to interpret and enforce local codes, including FCC and Oil and Gas Wells.

You will patrol assigned areas, respond to complaints, prepare cases for court, draft notices and reports, and coordinate with police, planning, and prosecuting staff to achieve compliance. Attendance and field investigations are essential to this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Mexico driver’s license with clean record.
• Some knowledge of code enforcement principles in a municipal setting.
• Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce city codes and FCC, Oil and Gas Wells.
• Inspect assigned area for code violations and monitor compliance.
• Respond to complaints and prepare enforcement actions.
• Prepare detailed reports and testify in court when required.
• Coordinate with police, planning, building and other departments.
