Job summary

Office of Public Response is seeking a code enforcement inspector to ensure compliance with zoning, housing, dangerous building and related codes in Santa Ana. You will read plans, inspect structures, and enforce regulations to prevent blight and unsafe conditions.

The role includes testifying at hearings, coordinating with multiple departments, and preparing detailed reports for enforcement actions. Valid driving license and ability to lift up to 30 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level experience in code enforcement inspection or equivalent.
• Knowledge of building codes, housing, zoning, and related ordinances.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, blueprints and maps; interpret codes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and properties for conformity with city, state and federal codes.
• Enforce parking regulations and issue citations; abate public nuisances.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and testify when required.
