Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Cocktail Server provides hospitable service to guests by serving food and beverages to create an exceptional guest experience. The incumbent delivers the highest level of service in support of the company’s mission, values, standards, and goals.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with guests in a warm, friendly manner using professional and Kessler standard nomenclature.
  • Operate the telephone system with correct salutation and etiquette.
  • Maintain guest privacy and protect company assets and proprietary information.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, beer, liquor, and wine; present menu and answer questions; make suggestions.
  • Explain, pair and recommend wine from the wine list; serve food and beverages professionally and efficiently.
  • Clear and reset counters or tables after each course; assist dining room servers as directed; help with setting tables and maintaining clean menus.
  • Assist with providing beverages to tables; remove linens and replace with clean linen; transport dirty dishes to the dishwashing station; polish silver and glassware.
  • Seat guests; relay orders to kitchen via POS and assist in serving courses; manage bill and payment processing; utilize property management systems and cash handling procedures.
  • Stock and polish glassware; complete opening and closing procedures and daily side-work; maintain knowledge of office equipment and access per specifications.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work area in compliance with sanitation standards and company policies; follow safety and security policies and report incidents.
  • Welcome guests with disabilities and accommodate needs; develop positive working relationships and participate in required trainings and meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of wine, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Knowledge of guest service etiquette and proper food and beverage serving techniques
  • Ability to perform all tasks related to a cocktail server role and to proficiently use related software and office equipment
  • Ability to remain calm in various situations, use sound judgment and solve problems
  • Ability to work quickly, prioritize, and manage multiple tables
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents
  • Ability to demonstrate cash handling procedures and calculate figures
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or related training equivalent - required
  • 1+ year of relevant work experience in a similar role - required
  • Experience within luxury brand/markets - required
  • Student or graduate of hotel management – preferred

  • None
Work Environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a shared space with constant noise and no private office
  • Able to cope with changing priorities and deadlines with professionalism and collaboration
  • Schedules may vary based on business demands, with or without notice
Physical Demands
  • Regularly able to see, hear, reach, and stand or walk up to 8 hours daily
  • Push/pull and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Travel by foot or other means; ability to sit, wait, and stand for varying periods
