Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee seeks a friendly Cocktail Server to engage guests, take beverage orders, and deliver prompt, thoughtful service in a lively setting. Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items.
• Ability to read and understand menus and promotions, speak and write English to communicate with guests.
• Ability to memorize and promote a variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport trays weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Must adhere to liquor regulations.
• Positive attitude and team player.
• Ability to remain motivated during busy periods.
• Cash handling and self-banking, count back change.
• Operate POS to pre-check orders and close checks.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to obtain government licenses or certificates; TIPS and Bartender certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check and maintain proper set-up and cleanliness of service station before, during, and after shift.
• Greet guests in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner and explain specials, promotions, and snacks.
• Take orders, recite selection of all call and premium brands as requested – memorize drinks, beers, and taps.
• Provide appropriate snack and garnish with all beverages.
• Input orders into point of sale system to inform bartender an order was made.
• Maintain cleanliness of guest tables and assist with the bar area.
• Replenish beverages as requested, check back with guest for satisfaction.
• Present the guest with the check promptly, thank them and invite them to return.
• Perform all assigned side work and complete daily checklist.
• Perform general cleaning tasks, adhere to health standards, and maintain work area cleanliness.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.

POSITION PURPOSE: As a Cocktail Server you will be working in a social environment where you have the opportunity to connect with guests and build relationships. Among the social aspect of a Cocktail Server, you will provide the service of food and beverage to our guests in a friendly and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Check and maintain proper set-up and cleanliness of service station before, during, and after shift.
• Greet guests in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner and explain all specials, promotions, and snacks.
• Take orders, recite selection of all call and premium brands as requested – this will require memorization of all available drinks, beer, and taps.
• Provide appropriate snack and garnish with all beverages.
• Input orders into point of sale system in a timely fashion to inform bartender an order was made.
• Maintain cleanliness of guest tables and assist with the bar area.
• Replenish beverages as requested, frequently checking back with guest to inquire about satisfaction.
• Present the guest with the check promptly, thank them and invite them to return.
• Perform all assigned side work and complete daily checklist.
• Perform general cleaning tasks, use standard cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
• Maintain condition and cleanliness of work area.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items.
• Ability to read, sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, speak and write the English language to communicate with the guest, and take orders.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
• Must adhere to all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
• Maintain a positive attitude throughout shift.
• Work as a team player.
• Ability to remain motivated during busy and slow periods within shift.
• Cash handling and self-banking position, requires ability to maintain funds, and accurately count back charge.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and learn point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. TIPS and Bartender certification preferred.
