Overview

The Hermitage Hotel has partnered with iHire to reach top talent for their opening below. Cocktail Server

Position Overview

As a Cocktail Server at The Hermitage Hotel, you deliver refined beverage hospitality within Nashville’s grand Beaux-Arts landmark—where architectural opulence, storied history, and culinary artistry converge. From your station at Drusie & Darr or The Pink Hermit, each drink becomes a gesture of Southern charm infused with Jean-Georges inspired elegance. Here, gracious service isn’t just expected—it’s part of our cultural heritage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Warm Guest Reception & Beverage Guidance: Greet guests with poise and offer bespoke drink recommendations that elevate their experience.
  • Curated Beverage Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholics, crafting informed suggestions with tailored nuance.
  • Precision Order Management: Process orders accurately via POS systems and ensure swift, flawless delivery.
  • Synergistic Team Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with bartenders, servers, and chefs to sustain polished, uninterrupted service.
  • Ambiance & Presentation Stewardship: Uphold cleanliness and presentation—spotless glassware, pristine garnishes, and refined service areas.
  • Proactive Guest Engagement: Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly address any needs or concerns with professionalism.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to responsible beverage service standards and food safety protocols consistently.
  • Brand-Aligned Strategic Execution: Support and embody brand-level initiatives with discretion, flexibility, and unwavering commitment to service excellence.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of elevated beverage service experience in luxury hotels or refined restaurant environments.
  • Accredited beverage qualification (e.g., WSET Level 2, CMS Intro), plus responsible alcohol service and food handler certifications.
  • Skilled use of POS, inventory, reservation, and digital payment tools.
  • Fluent in English; multilingual skills (French, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic) strongly preferred.
  • Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and busy periods; must be 21+.
Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies
  • Empathetic Anticipation: Recognize subtle cues to offer service before asked.
  • Narrative Beverage Storytelling: Describe cocktails and pairings with clarity and confidence.
  • Guest Personalization: Remember repeat patrons’ preferences to build connection.
  • Impeccable Presentation: Serve with elegance—spotless glassware, balanced garnishes, and silent precision.
  • Time Mastery & Multitasking: Serve multiple tables while coordinating with bar and kitchen.
  • Composure Under Pressure: Maintain grace and accuracy during bustling moments.
  • Integrated Team Coordination: Work in sync with sommeliers, bartenders, and leads via subtle communication.
  • Tactful Upselling: Offer additional pairings or digestifs with subtlety and finesse.
  • Discreet Professional Presence: Respect guest privacy with understated poise throughout service.
Preferred Extras
  • Experience in Michelin-rated or high-luxury hospitality venues.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., WSET Level 3/Diploma, CMS Certified, CSE, Cicerone).
  • Mixology or tableside theater skills—flaming cocktails, guéridon service, etc.
  • Deep familiarity with local and artisan beverage producers for storytelling.
  • Membership in professional beverage organizations (e.g., GuildSomm, Cicerone Program).
Benefits
  • Health & Wellness: Affordable health, dental, and vision insurance, with options to extend coverage to spouses, children, or domestic partners.
  • Financial Security: Company-provided life insurance and a 401(k) plan with a 3% annual match.
  • Work-Life Balance: Paid time off starting at 15 days per year after initial 90 day probationary period, increasing with tenure up to 30 days per year.
  • Employee Support: Mental and behavioral health services, telehealth, and employee assistance program.
  • Additional Perks: Complimentary meals, subsidized on-site parking, and discounts at retail and restaurant outlets.
  • Professional Development: Ongoing education support, including industry training.
  • Exclusive Rates: Special hotel rates for employees and discounted rates for friends/family.
  • Schedule: Flexible schedule; must be available for weekends/holidays; shifts typically 4-8+ hours; full-time up to 40+ hours or part-time up to 28 hours per week; in-person location.
  • Compensation: Hourly rate based on experience; paid biweekly.
