Position Summary
The Server is responsible for delivering a warm, polished, and elevated guest experience through attentive table service, strong menu knowledge, thoughtful recommendations, and consistent service execution. This position requires experience in both serving and bartending. While the primary role is server, team members should be comfortable supporting bar service and may occasionally be scheduled in a bartender capacity based on business needs, staffing levels, training, and service flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, attentive, and professional hospitality from greeting through farewell.
- Take accurate guest orders and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Deliver beverages and food in a timely, polished, and organized manner.
- Maintain strong knowledge of cocktails, ingredients, preparation, flavor profiles, and guest recommendations.
- Monitor guest pacing, satisfaction, and responsible alcohol consumption.
- Follow responsible alcohol service practices, including ID verification, intoxication awareness, and guest safety.
- Maintain clean and organized tables, service areas, and guest spaces.
- Support seating flow and communication with the host, bar, and management.
- Assist with bar support, beverage service, restocking, and service flow as needed.
- Use the POS system accurately for orders, payments, tabs, transfers, comps, voids, and closeout procedures.
- Communicate guest needs, service issues, inventory concerns, or safety concerns to the Bar Lead or General Manager.
- Support teammates during peak volume to maintain speed, consistency, and guest experience.
- Follow company policies, appearance standards, attendance expectations, and tip-pool procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Prior bartending experience required.
- Prior serving or table-service experience required.
- Strong cocktail, beer, wine, and beverage knowledge.
- Experience in a bar, restaurant, lounge, hotel, entertainment, private club, or upscale guest-service environment.
- Ability to work quickly, cleanly, and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong guest-service skills and professional presence.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and support teammates during peak volume.
- Ability to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule.
- Must meet all legal requirements for employment and alcohol service in Tennessee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an upscale cocktail bar, speakeasy, hotel bar, lounge, or nightlife environment.
- Prior experience opening a new venue or supporting a new service program.
- Experience with POS systems, beverage service, tip-pool procedures, and high-touch guest service.
- Knowledge of Tennessee alcohol-service expectations and responsible beverage service practices.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50 pounds as needed.
- Reach, bend, stoop, and move throughout the venue.
- Carry trays, glassware, beverages, food, and service supplies.
- Work around alcohol, food, cleaning products, sound, lighting, and guest traffic.
- Work in a fast-paced, late-night environment.
