Job summary
Padmore Global Connections LLC in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Programmer/Developer for an onsite contract role. The candidate will translate business requirements into robust COBOL solutions, maintain and enhance legacy software, and provide production support in a consulting capacity.
The role requires hands-on COBOL, JCL, and DB2 on IBM/mainframe environments, strong SDLC knowledge, and excellent communication to secure user sign-off before production releases.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' COBOL development on Mainframe.
- Experience with JCL development and maintenance.
- Proficient in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and Control-M.
- Strong SDLC knowledge and ability to test and deploy.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Ability to document programs and user procedures.
- Strong communication to obtain sign-off before production.
Responsibilities
- Translate analysis and design documents into programs.
- Maintain and enhance custom software and batch processes.
- Review existing code, data, and business processes.
- Execute tests, update files, and verify changes against requirements.
- Develop data analysis/summary reports using IBM and Microsoft tools.
- Assist conversion from COBOL to web-based application.
- Prepare program- and user-level documentation.
- Improve software efficiency and performance following procedures.
