Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Cobol Software Developer, Mid, to join a SAFe Agile team supporting the Medicare Fee For Service claims system. You will contribute as a senior mainframe developer, handling design, coding, testing, and defect resolution for COBOL/Assembler components within a complex DME environment.

The role emphasizes mentoring, technical leadership, and collaboration across teams, with a strong focus on delivering stable, reliable maintenance solutions for CMS programs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mainframe development experience in production or maintenance environment.
• Proficiency with mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
• Knowledge of health care claims processing, particularly Medicare Fee for Service.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM.
• SAFe experience and/or certification.
• Must be able to achieve and maintain a PublicTrust clearance.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a senior member of a persistent Agile development team supporting maintenance and operations.
• Leads and completes development of complex components within the mainframe environment.
• Works with minimal direction, exercising independent judgement on technical approaches and solutions.
• Leads and participates in design activities, providing technical guidance on maintenance solutions.
• Designs, prepares and executes unit tests; represents team to clients on technical matters.
• Contributes to strategic technical direction of the development teams.
• Implements end-user and enterprise solutions of high complexity with minimal direction.
• Mentors and provides technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers on the team.
