Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Cobol Software Developer (Mid) to join a highly structured SAFe Agile team supporting Medicare DME systems. You will contribute across the full lifecycle from design to unit testing and defect resolution, mentoring junior staff and delivering complex mainframe components.

The role requires strong mainframe skills ( COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO, VSAM ), experience with Agile/Scrum, DevOps toolchains, and familiarity with CMS programs. U.S.

Qualifications

• BS/BA with 6+ years of relevant experience or Masters with 4 years of relevant experience or HS diploma with 10+ years experience.
• 6+ years of mainframe development experience in production or maintenance environment.
• Proficiency with mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
• Knowledge of health care claims processing, particularly Medicare Fee for Service.
• Ability to perform well in a highly rigorous structured development environment.
• Demonstrate experience as a senior software developer in a mainframe environment.
• Demonstrate ability to determine and decompose business and technical requirements.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM.
• Strong communication skills and technical writing ability.
• Experience with Medicare Part A, Part B, DME or Medicare CWF processing systems.
• Experience with CMS programs and contracts.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps tools and frameworks through plan, define, build, test, release and deploy process.
• Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Eclipse (IDz/RDz).
• SAFe experience and/or certification.
• Must be able to achieve and maintain a PublicTrust clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a senior member of a persistent Agile development team supporting maintenance and operations.
• Leads and completes development of complex components within the mainframe environment.
• Works with minimal direction, exercising independent judgement on technical approaches and solutions.
• Leads and participates in design activities, providing technical guidance on maintenance solutions.
• Demonstrates advanced use and application of development concepts, practices, and techniques.
• Designs, prepares and executes unit tests; represents team to clients on technical matters.
• Provides solutions to a wide variety of complex technical problems.
• Contributes to strategic technical direction of the development teams.
• Applies technical knowledge to deliver maintenance solutions across multiple technology areas with minimal direction.
• Implements end-user and enterprise solutions of high complexity with minimal direction.
• Integrates deep technical expertise and business understanding to deliver stable, reliable solutions for clients.
• Consults with team members and other organizations, clients and vendors on complex technical issues.
• Provides time and resource estimates for assigned tasks and projects.
• Develops solutions to complex business and technology problems in areas of proven expertise.
• Mentors and provides technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers on the team.
