Job summary

Kanaan Communications, LLC is seeking a Coax Splicer II to perform telecommunication construction work, splicing coaxial cables both aerial and underground, in Morgantown, WV. The role requires physical work, a valid US driver’s license, and DOT medical clearance.

You will test, activate, and troubleshoot installed equipment, and document daily production reports, ensuring compliance with standards and accurate materials usage. Prior coax experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of coax splicing experience.
• Valid State driver’s license with clean record.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a medical card.

Responsibilities

• Splice coaxial cable both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
• Document work in daily production reports and maintain material records.
• Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely work at heights and in confined spaces, using ladders and climbing gear.

What you’ll do

• Perform tasks associated with electronic upgrades and splicing of coaxial cable, both aerial and underground


• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation


• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards


• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air


• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks


• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records


• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older


• Authorization to work in the United States for this company


• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience


• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record


• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card


• At least two years of coax splicing experience


• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred


• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work at heights & in confined spaces, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse


• Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
