Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. seeks a Coax Splicer to join our team based in Ellenboro, NC. You will splice coaxial networks for customers delivering internet, cable TV, and telephone services and perform related upgrades with safety and quality in mind.

You will complete tasks across aerial and underground systems, ensure proper testing and activation of equipment, and maintain thorough documentation of work performed. Competitive pay and benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver's license with a clean driving record.
• DOT physical exam and valid medical card required.
• Six months of coax splicing experience or one year in the telecommunications industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground under guidance.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
• Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely work at heights and in confined spaces across various environments.
• Maintain daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance tasks.
• Document work through production reports, map markup, and material usage records.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Additional Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
