Job summary

Fincantieri Marine Group - Marinette Marine is seeking a skilled paint/coating technician to perform surface preparation, preservation, and coating application on ship components. You will mix materials, protect surrounding areas, and ensure high-quality finishes on schedule.

Main duties include applying coatings via brush/roller/spray, inspecting work, and touching up as necessary, while safely using hand and power tools and adhering to PPE guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must understand instructions, drawings, and general correspondence.
• Comprehensive understanding of ship terminology and compartment nomenclature.
• Understanding of preservation process and quality-driven schedule work.
• Mix preservation material per datasheets; protect areas; inspect and touch up as needed.
• Experience using hand and power tools; scrape, sand, and needle gun surfaces.
• Apply coatings with brush, roller, or spray; troubleshoot equipment.
• Knowledge of different coating system types.
• Able to work in tight confined areas.
• Physically and medically capable of wearing PPE per OSHA requirements.
• Preferred: experience with C7 abrasive blasting, C12 spray application, C14 coating systems

Responsibilities

• Mix preservation materials per material data sheets and protect areas.
• Prepare and apply coatings using brush, roller, or spray equipment.
• Inspect preserved areas and perform touch up work as needed.
• Work with hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Operate or troubleshoot abrasive blasting or paint equipment as required.
