Qualifications

• High School diploma with relevant lab experience.
• Proficient using MS Office.
• Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail.
• The ability to work in a dynamic and fluid production environment.
• Follows safety guidelines and handles chemicals according to safety protocols.
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
• 2-year Chemical Technician degree or other science degrees.
• Experience with solvent-based coatings.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50%+ time in lab, working with coating formulations and evaluating properties.
• Weighing chemicals and mixing to create liquid coatings.
• Performing drawdowns of coatings with a Mayer Rod on various films.
• Assist with product testing (optical qualities, adhesion, thickness, chemical resistance, surface energy).
• Maintain lab notebook and enter information into electronic systems (Excel, etc.).
• Prepare samples for customers, label correctly, and print safety documents to ship.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste properly.
• Maintain a clean and safe lab environment; 5S experience preferred.
• Complete monthly safety trainings on computer.
• Document new chemicals, update SDS for safety review, update PPE requirements.
