Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector for the Paint and Final Product Inspection team at our Bedford, IN location. The role requires strong knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation standards, and inspection techniques.

You will maintain inspection documentation and act as the primary contact for quality-related matters. Responsibilities include surface prep inspections, coating application validation, final product inspections, and comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification required; Level 2 preferred
• Experience with military or government contracts a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation Inspection: verify surface cleanliness per SSPC/AMPP standards and ensure substrate is free of contaminants.
• Coating Application Inspection: verify coating system per project spec; perform holiday/pinhole testing per NACE SP0188; document defects.
• Final Product Inspection: verify dimensions/tolerances per drawings; visually inspect welds per AWS D1.1; verify coating color/appearance.
• Documentation & Reporting: maintain daily inspection reports; document NCRs and track to closure; photograph defects and maintain certifications.
