Job summary

PPG is seeking a Laboratory Technician to contribute to the synthesis of polymers and other materials used to create coatings. You will conduct experiments, collect data, analyze results, and maintain a clean, safe lab environment under supervision while prioritizing tasks and safety.

You will handle reaction equipment, perform measurements, record results in a notebook, manage supplies, and collaborate with a supervising chemist to ensure quality and compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of laboratory experience.
• Commitment to working safely with hazardous materials and maintaining accuracy and organization.

Responsibilities

• Set up reaction equipment and handle chemical reactants safely.
• Perform analytical measurements and record detailed experimental results in a laboratory notebook.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory, including proper waste disposal and equipment cleaning.
• Order laboratory supplies and manage inventory as needed.
• Follow strict safety protocols, including the daily use of personal protective equipment and occasional respirator use.
• Collaborate with a supervisory chemist while independently organizing and prioritizing your workload.

Education

High school diploma with coursework in chemistry

Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field
