Job summary

Boutique Recruiting seeks a Quality Coatings Inspector (NCIP Level One) for a manufacturing site in Channelview, TX. The role involves inspecting protective coatings, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining quality documentation to support coating projects across pipe and structural steel fabrication.

The ideal candidate has AMPP Level 1 certification, at least 2 years of field coating experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector Level 1 certification.
• 2 years field experience in protective coatings.
• Experience inspecting coal tar epoxy coatings.
• Ability to read PDS/ITP/shop drawings/work orders.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to provide professional feedback.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with production teams.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial coatings.
• Outdoor, physically demanding environment experience.
• Willingness to work Saturdays and some Sundays.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
• Knowledge of AISC, SSPC QP1 and QP3 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of protective coatings and finished products for quality compliance.
• Assist QC Foreman with implementing AISC, SSPC QP1 and QP3 standards.
• Inspect coal tar epoxy and other coatings to verify project specs.
• Review PDS, ITP, shop drawings and work orders.
• Maintain inspection reports, certifications, test results and QC documentation.
• Monitor calibration of inspection equipment and keep it in good condition.
• Identify quality issues and assist in corrective actions.
• Support training to reinforce QC procedures with production teams.
• Communicate findings and give feedback to personnel.
• Ensure safety and environmental quality procedures.
• Help improve QC systems and inspection practices.
