Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coatings and linings on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points from the coating specification, verify surface preparation, application, and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, and write reports relied on by owners and engineers.

AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 is required; there is preference for experience with tank linings, pipelines, or bridge coatings.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Command of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer's data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the inspection program to owner and applicator.
