Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep per SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, film thickness, and document every step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Requirements include current AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year in industrial coatings.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheets.
• Maintain daily coating inspection logs and photograph each stage.
