Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Newark, DE seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will measure ambient conditions, verify surface prep, and document every stage of coating application on tanks and structures.

This role offers growth toward CIP Level 2, with hands-on field duties and meticulous record-keeping. Travel to project sites may be required as assigned.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against manufacturer data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
• Readings before the blast, readings after, readings between coats; tie them to the sprayed batch.
