Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions, check film thickness, and document every step on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

The role requires CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year in industrial coatings; you will work around blasting and spray operations and maintain meticulous records of readings and logs.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
