Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coatings under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, and document each step on tanks and structures.

You must hold AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and have at least 1 year in industrial coatings work.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life against data sheets.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
