Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under supervision. You will verify surface prep per SSPC/NACE, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, and document every step of coating work on tanks, structures, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires a current CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ year experience in industrial coatings. Work involves reading gauges, recording logs, and coordinating with senior inspectors to ensure compliance

Qualifications

AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
Verify surface preparation to the specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer’s data sheet.
Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
