Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under supervision of a CIP Level 2/3 inspector. You will verify SSPC/NACE standards, monitor ambient conditions, measure film thickness, and document each step on tanks, structures, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ years in coatings inspection or application, with work around tanks and blasting operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• Minimum 1+ year in industrial coatings inspection or application.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray ops.
• Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about gauge readings.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life per data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
