Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under supervision. You will verify surface prep to SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, film thickness, and document each coating stage on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required, with 1+ years in industrial coatings inspection. Training and travel may be involved as projects vary.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required and current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point).
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet/dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheet.
• Keep daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
