Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under a CIP Level 2/3 supervision, document steps, and ensure compliance with SSPC/NACE standards. You will assess ambient conditions, surface prep, film thickness, and log all activities on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, at least 1 year of coatings experience, and comfort working near blasting and spray operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about gauge readings.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life per datasheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection logs and photograph each stage.
