Job summary

EnerStaff LLC is seeking a Coating Operator for a temp-to-hire position in Houston, TX. Shift is 2nd from 3:30pm to 2am. Start ASAP.

Pay ranges from $17 to $19 per hour. The role involves applying powder or solvent-based coatings to manufactured parts, ensuring quality, safety, and production standards. Essential duties include coating application, monitoring finish quality, surface prep, reading work orders, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience with coating processes and surface preparation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform basic math.
• Basic computer skills and good communication.
• Must pass background and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Coating Operator (Temp-to-Hire)

Summary

The Coating Operator is responsible for applying coatings, both powder or solvent based or other finishes to manufactured parts using various equipment and processes. The Coating Operator ensures parts meet quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Functions

• Apply coatings according to production specifications and work instructions
• Monitor coating thickness, adhesion, and finish requirements
• Prepare surfaces before coating (cleaning, masking, sanding, blasting as required)
• Read and interpret job orders and coating specifications

Duties and Responsibilities

• Load and unload parts onto coating lines or workstations
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
• Identify and report coating defects or equipment issues
• Maintain the cleanliness of the area
• Adhere to all safety rules, PPE requirements including full face respirator, and company policies
• Other tasks assigned by supervisor or management

Education/Experience

• Experience with coating or spray painting, including powder coating, both with manual and automatic systems
• 1-3 years’ experience completing warehouse tasks
• Experience in a warehouse/distribution center specializing in the waterworks industry or related products
• Experience with powder coating

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Able to lift and move up to 45 pounds during a 10-hour shift
• Frequently required to stand, bend, and lift during a 10-hour shift

• Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators and protective gear
• Able to work in various climate conditions
• Exposure to moving machinery, heavy materials, and grinding equipment
• Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required
