Job summary

Silgan Containers Mfg Corp in Hammond, IN is seeking a Coater Operator for 2nd or 3rd shift. The role requires setting up and adjusting equipment, mixing tote tanks of coatings, maintaining viscosity, and performing quality checks with appropriate action based on results.

You will operate in-plant lift trucks to move materials, rely on strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, and follow safety practices in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strongly prefer at least two years of prior manufacturing experience.
• Proven experience as a Coater Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiar with lacquer types, application methods, and finishing techniques.
• Experience with hand and power tools used on the job.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Mix tote tanks of coatings, add solvents, maintain viscosity, and wash up as needed.
• Conduct quality checks and reacts appropriately to the results.
• Operate in-plant mobile equipment, such as lift trucks, to move material to and from storage areas.
