Job summary

Jekyll Island Authority seeks a Park Services staff member for a full-time custodial role on Georgia’s coast. The position cleans and maintains public bathrooms, shelters, tables, and walkways, with weekend and holiday shifts and occasional evenings.

Responsibilities include restocking supplies, operating cleaning equipment, and ensuring a positive guest experience. The role requires reliability, punctuality, and the ability to perform physical tasks in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• 6 to 12 months of experience in cleaning and maintenance (or related).
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and work independently; good communication skills.
• Manual skills to perform cleaning, utilize cleaning tools, operate vacuum cleaners, etc.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be reliable with availability on weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial work necessary to maintain buildings and grounds in exceptional condition; scrubs, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes, and polishes floors; cleans restrooms; removes trash; and participates in other cleaning/disinfecting actions to keep assigned areas clean.
• Cleans public restrooms, restocks bathroom tissue, cleans mirrors and floors, and applies air fresheners.
• Ensures adequate cleaning supplies are maintained on route truck daily; requests and picks up supplies from the warehouse.
• Safely operates motor vehicle to locations on assigned route.
• Cleans buildings/structures as assigned; cleans fixtures, vacuums, and dust as necessary.
• Pressure wash shelters, tables, and walkways as required.
• Picks up and disposes of trash and debris and removes trash from bins as required.
• Ensures that the reservation forms are posted at the appropriate time and location.
• Performs various custodial duties as determined and directed by the supervisor and superintendent.
• Performs grounds custodial duties during special events.
• Attends and completes assigned training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
