Job summary

Boulder Valley School District is seeking a Coach-Robotics for Summit Middle Charter to run after-school robotics sessions and build VEX V5 robots. You will supervise practices, teach CAD concepts, and help students prepare for competitions from October through May.

This is an after-school, extra-duty role with a total contract amount of $4,000. Experience with VEX V5 hardware and software is preferred; strong organization, clear communication with parents, and the ability to manage logistics

Summary:

After-school practices and build sessions (4–6 hours/week), occasional competitions (October-April), working closely with parent volunteers and mentor coaches to buildVex V5 robots. Total compensation $4,000. The position is supervised and evaluated by the athletic director.

Responsibilities:

The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position:

• Experience with the VEX V5 Robotics System and VEXcode V5, including robot design, mechanical systems, pneumatics and C++ programming is a plus but not required.
• Ability to teach CAD (computer aided design) for 3D modeling with OnShape or Tinkercad a plus but not required.
• Be able to manage and facilitate a classroom of ~30 enthusiastic students.
• Prepare students for robotics competitions by developing match strategy, driver skills, and judging interview readiness with design journals.
• Manage robotics program logistics including schedules, equipment inventory, and competition preparation.
• Help head coach with organization and implementation of tournament and travel logistics.
• Foster a learning environment for competitors by helping them coach each other on game strategy and communication.

• Prior coaching or mentoring in robotics competitions.
