The ideal Candidate hired will be under general direction, operates public transit coaches over assigned routes according to published schedules; performs related duties as required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must be able to obtain/retain a California Class B driver's license with endorsements. Must have a stable work history, excellent driving record, and a minimum age of 18.
Knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to the safe operation of public transit vehicles. Ability to maintain a good attendance record and be at work on time; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; remain calm and composed under occasionally stressful conditions; deal courteously and effectively with passengers, fellow employees and the general public; follow written instructions and verbal orders; maintain a neat, professional appearance; and work any specified shift which may include day, swing, splits, or weekends, and holidays.
Positions in this job classification are considered safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations.
The selection process consists of an evaluation of education, experience, and driving record. (A Class B license is not required to submit an employment application but a Class B permit or Class A or B License with passenger and air brake endorsement is required prior to the first day of employment). Those that have applied and tested in the past 6 months will not be eligible to re-apply. The most competitively qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background/criminal investigation (including LiveScan), and DOT pre-employment physical examination with drug screening.
