Job summary

Orange County Transportation Authority is looking for a Coach Operator who plays a vital role in safely transporting passengers throughout Orange County. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while operating agency motor coaches along designated routes.

Responsibilities include adhering to route schedules, assisting passengers, collecting fares, and following traffic laws. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a clean driving record and a California Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21 with a clean, current DMV driving record.
• Ability to pass state-mandated physical performance tests.
• Ability to work variable hours, shifts, and locations.
• Willingness to complete OCTA’s Student Coach Operator Training Program.
• California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B) with passenger endorsement, or ability to obtain.

Job Description

Join OCTA as a Coach Operator and play a vital role in safely transporting passengers throughout Orange County. You’ll provide exceptional customer service while operating agency motor coaches along designated routes.

Compensation

• $24.30/Hour - Training (6 weeks)
• $25.37/Hour - Upon certification (after training)
• $26.35/Hour - After 6 months
• $38.67/Hour - Top rate after 4 years
• Six month increases are subject to terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a motor coach and adhere to route schedules
• Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers and those with disabilities
• Collect fares, issue transfers, and make stop/transfer announcements
• Follow all traffic laws and agency policies
• Report accidents, incidents, and vehicle maintenance needs
• Complete required forms and documentation accurately

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21 with a clean, current DMV driving record
• Ability to pass state-mandated physical performance tests
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work variable hours, shifts, and locations
• Ability to make basic arithmetic calculations and complete required forms
• Willingness to complete OCTA’s Student Coach Operator Training Program
• California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B) with passenger endorsement, or ability to obtain
