Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Co-Teacher for Head Start/ Early Head Start programs. The role involves delivering developmentally appropriate activities for children, implementing the curriculum for double sessions, and coordinating related health, nutrition, and family services on-site.

Requirements include AA in ECE/CD with 24 units (or related field with 24 CD units) and experience working with children, with preferred BA and bilingual English/Spanish abilities.

Qualifications

• Head Start performance standards
• Licensing regulations

Responsibilities

• Provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help children develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically
• Implements the Head Start program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions)
• Integrates HS services into the learning, such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services
• Conducts daily classroom planning, maintains children’s records, and submits monthly paperwork
• Observes, screens and assesses children’s development and sets related goals
• Provides a planned program of activities, supporting parents as the prime educators
• Ensures the learning environment reflects diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Maintains a physical environment compliant with licensing and safety requirements
• Other duties as assigned
