Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is hiring a Co-Teacher for the Early Head Start program. The role involves creating a nurturing classroom environment for children ages 2–3, delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and collaborating with the Family Advocate to connect families with essential services.

The position requires on-site work, 6 infant/toddler units, and a AA in ECE/CD with 24 CD units (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance required.
• Valid California driver’s license or reliable transportation.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior to hire.
• Annual influenza vaccination.
• Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization.
• Health screening at time of employment.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly.
• Requires interaction with children in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions).
• Integrate HS services into learning including parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health and mental health.
• Observe, screen and assess children’s development and set goals.
• Provide activities to support parents as primary educators.
• Maintain classroom records and submit monthly paperwork on time.
