Job summary

VOALA, serving the Los Angeles area, seeks a Co-Teacher for Head Start/ Early Head Start programs for children aged 2–3. The role focuses on creating a rich, developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports social-emotional growth and school readiness.

You will plan daily activities, collaborate with a Family Advocate, and connect families with health, nutrition and mental health services while ensuring compliance with licensing and safety standards on-site.

Qualifications

• 6 units of infant/toddler (at least 3 semester units required at hire; 6 total within 1 year)
• AA in Early Child Education/Child Development with 24 CD units OR AA in related field with 24 CD units
• Head Start knowledge and bilingual ability preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the program curriculum for children enrolled in morning and afternoon classes (double sessions) and plan activities to stimulate learning.
• Cooperate with the Family Advocate to provide information and resources to enrolled families.
• Integrate Head Start services into learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, mental health).
• Maintain daily classroom planning and accurate monthly records.
• Observe, screen and assess children's developmental levels and set goals.
• Provide a learning environment reflecting diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
• Ensure health and safety compliance per licensing requirements.
• Other duties as assigned to fulfill program mission.
