The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking a lead .NET developer to drive design and development across APIs, databases, and user interfaces. This role supports a hybrid work schedule and requires work from the assigned location in Virginia.
Responsibilities include hands-on development, architecture guidance, code reviews, and mentoring a small team while maintaining DEQ applications and IT systems. Strong C#, .NET, EF Core, SQL, and modern front-end skills are essential.
Hiring Range: $115,000 - $150,000
Full Time or Part Time: FULL TIME
To provide leadership in .NET development and maintenance of application software systems working across the full stack from APIs and databases to the user interface. Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.
This position is responsible for analysis, design and development of new applications, including web APIs and user interfaces. The position performs hands‑on software development and provides technical leadership on application architecture, design patterns, and development standards. Duties include data modeling and database design, building secure, accessible, and responsive user interfaces, and leading and participating in code reviews. This position will also maintain the Agency's applications and Information Technology systems, mentor other developers, and document technical decisions.
