Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer Co-op to join our Supplier Engineering Team in Danvers. This role supports standardization of defect characterization, supplier requirements, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives to drive quality and efficiency.

You will collaborate across manufacturing and suppliers, manage risk, and help transfer product improvements into production while applying lean and continuous improvement concepts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Masters or Undergraduate in Engineering, Manufacturing or Supply Chain focus.
• Understanding of manufacturing process, supplier management, and planning.
• Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives desired.
• Familiarity with project management terms and concepts, ability to prioritize tasks is a plus.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly, effectively and frequently.
• Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Support standardization of manufacturing defect characterization at incoming inspection to drive down long term defect occurrence.
• Support product development projects and liaise for new supplier requirements.
• Assist in the "Quality at the Source" program to increase yields at supplier facilities.
• Drive capacity projects to meet manufacturing and business needs.
• Proactively manage component obsolescence.
• Drive second source projects; monitor risk of existing suppliers and define mitigation plans.
• Support transfer of product improvements into production using Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Lead analysis of defective components in Incoming Inspection and work with vendors to resolve.
• Manage supplier process validation activities using a risk-based approach.
• Implement continuous improvement within supply chain.
