Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer Co-op to join the Supplier Engineering Team in Danvers, MA. This internship focuses on advancing manufacturing processes and supplier quality through standardized defect characterization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include supporting product development with suppliers, leading capacity projects, and applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to production transfers.

Qualifications

Masters or undergrad in Engineering, Manufacturing or Supply Chain.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier management.
Familiarity with lean, six sigma, kaizen and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Support standardization of manufacturing defect characterization at incoming inspection.
Support product development and liaise on new supplier requirements.
Assist in the Quality at the Source program to increase yields at suppliers.
Drive capacity projects to meet manufacturing needs.
Proactively manage component obsolescence.
Drive second-source projects and monitor supplier risk with mitigation plans.
Support transfers of product improvements into production using DFM.
Lead analysis of defective components in Incoming Inspection with vendors to resolve.
Manage supplier process validation with a risk-based approach.
Implement continuous improvement in supply chain.

Requirements

Support standardization of manufacturing defect characterization at incoming inspection to drive down long term defect occurrence and improve overall identification
Support product development projects and serve as liaison for actions associated with new supplier requirements
Assist in the "Quality at the Source" program with the objective of increasing yields at the supplier and qualifying quality inspections at the supplier facility
Drive capacity projects to meet manufacturing and business needs
Proactively manage component obsolescence
Drive second source projects; continuously monitor risk of the existing suppliers /components and define risk mitigation plans
Support the transfer of product improvements into production utilizing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Lead analysis of defective components in Incoming Inspection and work with vendors to resolve
Manage supplier process validation activities by applying a risk-based approach
Implement continuous improvement within supply chain

Qualifications

Student pursuing a Masters or Undergraduate (Senior or Junior) in Engineering, Manufacturing or Supply Chain focus.
Understanding of manufacturing process, supplier management, and planning
Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives desired
Familiarity with project management terms and concepts, ability to prioritize tasks is a plus
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently
Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

The anticipated base pay range for this position is : $23.50/hr to $52.50/hr

Additional Description for Pay Transparency: The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience.

Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan.
Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year.
Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension).
