Job summary

CPCCo in Richland, Washington, seeks a self-motivated student to support the Radiation Protection Program. You will assist with reviewing records, creating presentations, and maintaining the RadCon web page, collaborating with SMEs, PPOCs, and the CTA to enhance AI-driven processes.

At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area by protecting the Columbia River and remediating the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we seek exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex.

Our team is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to support our Radiation (Rad) Protection Program that has a good understanding of data software, experience with the integration of AI tools, and Excel-based spreadsheet development, which can be used to gain hand-on experience to collate information to inform and support decision making. This individual would work with our subject matter experts (SMEs), Project Point of Contacts (PPOCs) and Company Technical Authority (CTA), to help come up with ways to enhance AI and provide innovative solutions.

We are seeking an individual that can manage and maintain our web page, has good verbal and written communication skills to work well as part of the team and provide support to the 21 radiological functional areas to solve complex problems and resolve issues as needed.

To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help reduce risk on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex.

Under direct supervision, the individual will perform job duties that may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with reviewing radiological work records, procedures, technical documents for editorial or graphical issues.
  • Assist in creating/maintaining power point presentations, excel and word documents.
  • Assist in gathering and reviewing radiological work records to support monthly/annual reports.
  • Maintain weekly staff meeting minutes.
  • Develop, update, and maintain RadCon web page, including understanding the website design, layout, and functionality.
  • Assist in other RadCon projects.
  • Interface daily with RadCon Staff members (e.g., Managers, Supervisors, Rad Engineers).
Basic Qualifications
  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
  • Currently enrolled with either Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU-TC), Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online student living local to the Tri-Cities, WA.
  • Students will be sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution.
  • Willign and able to work 15-40 hours a week on a Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. schedule.
  • Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo, with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignment requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to work on website design, layout, and functionality.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic programming principles. Experienced in building and maintaining web pages through school and personal projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Compensation & Benefits

Starting rate is based on academic standing and field of degree, ranging from an hourly rate of $21.80 to $29.10 plus an additional $5.09 health & welfare adder in accordance with the Service Contract Act.
