Job summary

Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo) in Richland, WA, seeks a Senior Safety Specialist to lead Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene (OS/IH) programs across CPCCo projects. You will provide technical authority, develop safety policies, and guide teams to ensure work is performed to DOE and company standards.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience (10+ for a Principal level). A Certified Safety Professional is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical authority to manage Occupational Safety programs and represent CPCCo on committees.
  • Develop, review and implement OS program policies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Advise and assist individuals and organizations on OS matters.
  • Maintain and apply OS knowledge across operations, construction, maintenance, and deactivation activities.
  • Conduct OS field assessments, inspections and walk downs to evaluate conditions and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain records, reports and documents for regulatory and corporate needs.
  • Provide OS oversight to direct and subcontracted work activities.
  • Develop and present OS focus area presentations.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or related field
Master's degree in related field (preferred)

Our Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene (OS&IH) team is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist within our Central Programs Group who has the ability to provide industry-leading support to the various CPCCo Projects across the plateau. The Central OS&IH Programs team develops, maintains, and verifies that the CPCCo is performing work safely in a manner consistent with company and DOE standards. A day in the life of a Programs Safety Specialist may include the following:

  • Providing technical authority to manage Occupational Safety (OS) programs as assigned, authoring interpretations and representing CPCCo on company and site committees.
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing OS Program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations and orders from regulating entities.
  • Advising, consulting, guiding and assisting individuals and organizations in OS matters.
  • Obtaining, maintaining and applying the necessary skills and knowledge of OS aspects as assigned to diverse work activities such as operations, construction, maintenance, drilling, modification, fabrication, environmental restoration and deactivation and decommissioning.
  • Conducting OS field assessments, inspections and walk downs to evaluate conditions and ensure compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining records, reports and documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements.
  • Providing OS oversight to direct and subcontracted work activities as assigned.
  • Developing and providing presentations on focus areas and topics related to OS.
Basic Qualifications

Senior Level Grade 19: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 9 or more years of relevant experience.

Principal Level Grade 20: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or other related field.
Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.

Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):

Senior Level Grade 19: $101,950 - $163,050

Principal Level Grade 20: $112,250 - $179,500

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
