Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Co-op to gain hands‑on experience in plant operations, tooling and process improvements. You will support mechanical programs, assist in leading projects, and provide technical direction to maintenance staff.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and will graduate between December 2027 and May 2030.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Must be graduating between December 2027 and May 2030.
• Able to work full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.
• Must be enrolled in a co‑op program through Kettering University or Rochester Institute of Technology.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
• Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture
• Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problems
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects
