Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Co-Op (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027) Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets.

You will collaborate with model coordinators, estimators and field staff to create practical, efficient, and cost‑effective designs, while gaining exposure to VDC and CFD workflows and field feedback.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC/plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform basic deliverables like calculations, drawings, and specs for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Perform basic calculations for loads, equipment sizing, friction, etc.
• Coordinate design with management, architects, and trades through the project lifecycle.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
