Bridgeway Community Health is currently seeking a qualified

Co-Occurring Therapist

for our growing Medically Managed Withdrawal (Detox) department!

Do you believe in the gold standard of co-occurring services where one clinician addresses mental health and addiction concerns for their clients? If so, you will be part of a deeply committed, trauma-informed team of both mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers.

Our outpatient mental health and addictions treatment team is seeking dual-credentialed therapists or mental health therapists interested in pursuing dual credentials in the drug and alcohol addiction field.


Primary Purpose

The Co-Occurring Therapist position provides dual diagnosis enhanced services using stage-of-change specific interventions with individualized outcomes focusing on reducing symptoms related to mental health and substance abuse.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts integrated assessments, including screening for the presence of substance use, problem gambling, mental health conditions, and chronic medical conditions, as well as the presence of systems-related trauma using ASAM criteria and DSM.
  • Utilizes assessment tools or data in the evaluation, treatment planning, and discharge process, including cognitive-behavioral interventions, motivational interventions, and healthy relationships education.
  • Prepares and maintains all required treatment records and reports.
  • Counsels clients in individual and group counseling sessions. Individual sessions may periodically include family members or support people.
  • Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with and supporting clients.
  • Collects information about clients through interviews, observations, and collateral information.
  • Acts as client advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based, client-centered treatment plans that address mental health and substance use.
  • Documents relevant treatment reviews, progress notes, status reports, coordination of services, and discharge summaries.
  • Meets with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Observes urinalysis testing and complete the chain of custody documentation.
  • Gathers information about community mental health services and resources that could be used with therapy.
  • Completes discharge paperwork, including discharge plan completed with the client.

Experience, Education, and Credentials

  • Requires QMHP with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university.
  • CADC certification or ability and willingness to achieve CADC within 12 months of hire. Successful candidates for these positions will receive assistance in obtaining their CADC if they do not already have it.
  • Experience in the treatment of addictions is strongly preferred.
  • In addition, the experience must demonstrate the ability to conduct an assessment, including identifying precipitating events, gathering histories of mental and physical health, substance use, past mental health services, and criminal justice contacts; assessing family, cultural, social, and work relationships; conducting a mental status examination; complete a DSM diagnosis; write and supervise the implementation of a service/treatment plan; and provide individual, family or group therapy within the scope of their training.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong computer and time management skills are required to work effectively. Advanced understanding of ASAM PPC-2R and DSM is required.
  • Intermediate understanding of Oregon Administrative Rules preferred.

  • Bridgeway provides on-site licensure supervision for LPCs and LMFTs. Bridgeway will pay up to $150 if you have an off-site licensure supervisor.

Compensation

  • DOE: $34 - $40 per hour
  • An additional stipend is available for Spanish/English bilingual employees.
