Job summary

Houston Life at KPRC 2 is a digital-first, multi-platform lifestyle brand seeking a curious storyteller. You’ll co-host a live, one-hour daily show and create content across broadcast, streaming, web, and social.

You’ll own stories end-to-end, shoot, write, edit, publish, and collaborate with producers and sales to develop editorial opportunities. Strong on-air presence and storytelling instinct are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional live on-air hosting or reporting experience in a television news or lifestyle environment.
• Minimum 3 years of experience shooting, writing, editing material for broadcast and digital.
• Strong communication skills across teams and platforms.
• Deep understanding of current and emerging social media platforms and audience engagement strategies.
• Availability for a full-time Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional evenings/weekends for events.
• Must understand KPRC 2’s community presence and brand values.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

• Collaborate with producers, photographers, and sales to develop editorial and branded opportunities.
• Actively promote stories across social media before, during, and after air.
• Conduct engaging live and taped interviews that inform, entertain, and connect with viewers.
• Contribute fresh ideas for long-term storytelling, series, and cross-platform initiatives.
• Represent Houston Life in the community to grow audiences and relationships.
• Experiment with emerging technology and storytelling techniques to grow engagement.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Co-host a live, daily talk show - leading both scripted and unscripted segments with confidence and personality
• Own stories end-to-end: pitch, shoot, write, edit, publish, and optimize content for broadcast, streaming, web, and social platforms.
• Collaborate with producers, photographers, and the sales team to develop compelling editorial and branded content opportunities
• Actively promote stories across social media before, during, and after they air - driving engagement and conversation
• Conduct engaging live and taped interviews that inform, entertain, and connect with viewers
• Contribute fresh ideas for long-term storytelling, special series, and cross-platform initiatives
• Represent Houston Life throughout the community by building authentic relationships that inspire future stories and grow audiences across platforms
• Continuously experiment with emerging technology, platforms, and storytelling techniques to grow audience and engagement

WHAT YOU MUST BRING:

• A strong on-air presence and excellent ad-libbing skills
• A proven ability to independently shoot, write, edit, and publish original content
• A natural curiosity and the ability to consistently discover compelling stories, people, and experiences
• The ability to work quickly, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high production standards
• A collaborative, creative, and team-first mindset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong internal and external communication skills across teams and platforms

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
