Job summary

FOX Houston is seeking a visionary Morning News Executive Producer to lead the evolution of local news as a streaming-first organization. You will own editorial direction and drive relentless execution from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM on our linear channel.

You will lead cross-platform content across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, coordinate with reporters and the digital team, and ensure a smooth handoff to the streaming team at 10:00 AM while planning for long-term coverage and community impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of newsroom management experience and 5 years as a producer.
• Ability to lead a diverse team and drive the editorial direction.
• Experience guiding digital content strategy across social platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead content creation and distribution across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for morning window.
• Ensure smooth handoff to streaming team at 10:00 AM and plan long-term strategy.
• Own breaking news, weather events, and major local events like Rodeo Houston and FIFA World Cup 2026.

As a STREAMING FIRST news organization, we are looking for a visionary Morning News Executive Producer to lead our evolution in one of the most dynamic markets in the country. We aren't looking for a traditional newsroom manager. We want an innovative thinker and a "doer" who possesses the drive to make big ideas happen. As our Morning EP, you will own the editorial direction and relentless execution of local news from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM on our linear broadcast channel. Your impact goes far beyond TV newscasts. You will also:

• Prioritize Digital Platforms: Lead content creation and distribution strategy each morning across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, ensuring consistent execution by reporters, anchors and digital team members.
• Seamless Integration: Ensure a smooth handoff to our streaming team at 10:00 AM before shifting focus to long‑term planning.
• Own the Big Moments: Lead the team in owning breaking news, impactful weather, and big local events like Rodeo Houston and FIFA World Cup 2026.
• Build Connection: Ensure the team and news product remains deeply connected to Houston's local businesses, non‑profits, and community events.

We're focused on candidates with a minimum of 5 years of newsroom management experience, plus an additional 5 years as a producer. As a leader in a major breaking news and severe weather market, you'll be expected to be on‑site and ready to lead during emergencies, including weekends, late nights, or early mornings.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $115,000.00-121,770.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
