Job summary

Sofidel America is seeking a Converting Assistant Rewinder Operator to assist the Machine Operator in daily production tasks and ensure alignment with customer specifications. The role involves programming panels, calculating sizes, setting up rewinder equipment, and monitoring quality across shifts.

Responsibilities include collaborating with Rapid Changeover Technicians, maintaining safety standards, and supporting lean initiatives while contributing to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience preferred but not required in unique circumstances.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and quality manuals.
• Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Machine Operator under guidance to learn essential machine operation skills.
• Support GMP and HACCP guidelines to maintain a safe workplace.
• Apply customer specifications to machine operation to meet requirements.
• Program and monitor computerized panels, calculate core size, roll diameters, footage and perforation.
• Set up, operate and adjust rewinder and downstream equipment to meet quotas.
• Program the log saw, clamp products and verify cut accuracy, adjusting as needed.
• Perform hourly quality checks and submit daily quality reports to QA; assist with changeovers.
• Collaborate with RCO Technicians for changeovers and adjustments.
• Adjust embossing units and core chucks as required.
• Maintain communication with quality, maintenance and supervision teams.
• Demonstrate leadership consistently.
• Keep area clean and organized, leaning initiatives.

Position Overview

Sofidel America is actively searching for a dedicated Converting Assistant Rewinder Operator to join our team, collaborating closely with our Machine Operator to maintain the efficient operation of our machinery.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Machine Operator under their guidance and direction to learn essential machine operation skills.
• Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic workplace.
• Apply customer specifications to machine operation to ensure finished products meet customer requirements.
• Program and monitor computerized operating panels, calculate core size, roll diameters, required footage, and perforation.
• Set up, operate, and adjust the rewinder and downstream equipment to meet production quotas.
• Program the log saw, clamp products in the log saw, and verify cut accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
• Perform hourly quality checks, submit daily quality reports to the QA department, and assist with product changeovers.
• Collaborate with Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs) for changeovers and adjustments.
• Adjust embossing units and core chucks as required.

Job Requirements

Work Environment

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory in designated plant and warehouse areas, including safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, hairnets or hats, and other necessary protection.
