This on-the-job training role prepares you to manage cashier operations and supervise staff within the CNS department, aligning with district policies and state/federal regulations.

The trainee will learn food service management, record-keeping, payroll, and meal program administration while ensuring compliance and quality in a school

Qualifications

• Experience as a cashier is required.
• Ability to read, write, understand and speak English.
• Certification Level II is required within three years.
• Produce food in large quantities and understand food production terminology and methods.
• Supervise and manage people.
• Perform basic accounting and bookkeeping skills including operating a cash register and computer.
• Know district procedures and policies and federal and state regulations governing school food service operations.
• Make decisions and work under pressure to meet deadlines and time schedules.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-the-job training with CNS managers to observe and learn all phases of school food service.
• Learn rules and regulations of CNS, MISD, TX state, and US Government.
• Learn all aspects of quantity food production and service and equipment use/maintenance.
• Assist manager to train employees and ensure standards of taste, quality and sanitation.
• Observe and learn skills to manage employees.
• Handle financial transactions: cash receipts, deposits, meals served, time sheets, payroll; keep records.
• Assign duties, hours, breaks and lunches and complete time sheets and payroll records.
• Forecast amounts needed, order, receive and store food, supplies and chemicals.
• Serve as substitute for Managing Cashier/Manager in absence of Manager; report to supervisor.
