Job summary

Staff Management | SMX is seeking a skilled CNC Technician to support our machining operations in Geneva, IL. You will set up lathes, mills, and CNC equipment, use calibrated gauging tools, and ensure quality and safety standards are met on every production run.

You'll read blueprints and process specs, document tool life data, troubleshoot issues, and assist with preventive maintenance. The role is 1st shift, 6:30 am–3:00 pm, with overtime as required. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Pre-hire math and mechanical aptitude test completed.
• Minimum 3 years of lathe and mill setup experience.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with CNC equipment operation.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines with calibrated gauging and chucking equipment.
• Read from instructions, blueprints, and process specs.
• Assist with tool life testing and data recording for engineering.
• Troubleshoot tool failures or work-holding issues.
• Obtain inspection approval before production begins.
• Use precision measuring instruments and perform minor repairs.
• Monitor SPC and support machine operators as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow PPE requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement and problem solving.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
